It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Evangelina Balbastro Rios, our beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Tia and Friend. Who went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 17, 1957, in Mexicali, BC to Jose and Rosa Balbastro. Eva moved to Blythe, CA when she was twelve years old. She attended Blythe Junior High School and Palo Verde High School where she graduated in 1976. She then went on to marry the love of her life Manuel Rios on October 8, 1979, and soon after welcomed two sons.

Eva embodied the very best qualities: unconditional love, a warm spirit, and unending generosity. She will be remembered for her amazing cooking and the way she made everyone around her feel valued and welcome. Above all, her greatest joy in life was being a mother and Nana. She was a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and love. Her beautiful legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She was the matriarch of our family and will be deeply missed.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Jose and Rosa Balbastro, Sisters Bertha Pinon and Rosie Barcenas.

Survived by her loving husband Manuel Rios, Sons Manuel (Tiffanie) Rios, Jerie (Alice) Rios, and Jorge (Marichuy) Balbastro. Grandchildren Aryana, Dominic and Gabrielle Rios. Siblings Jose Balbastro, Arturo (Rosalba) Briceno, Lupe Moreno, Fernando (Norma) Balbastro, Bernie (Melody) Balbastro and Maria Acuna, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eva was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she faithfully served. A celebration of life will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Blythe CA on Saturday June 27, 2026 at 10:00am. A reception will follow at Blythe Fair Grounds at 12:00pm.
