Obituary

Etta Mabel Love was born on March 9, 1930 in Meridian, Oklahoma to Leonard and Elizabeth Love.  Etta was the seventh of eight children.

The Love family moved from Oklahoma to Blythe, California in 1934.  Etta attended Palo Verde High School where she had a natural athletic ability.  She played softball and basketball with her teammate and sister Darnetta on the two time undefeated champion team, "The Brown Bombers".  The Love sisters were the best players on the team.  An all-star team was put together to defeat the Bombers but they fell short and the Bombers remained undefeated.

Etta was also an active member of the St. Paul Baptist Church.  She also became an Eastern Star of the Queen Vashi Chapter.  Etta went on to Palo Verde College and earned her degree in Vocational Nursing.  Etta was employed at Palo Verde Hospital for many years. She took pride in being a leader and a strong willed woman.  After she retired from the hospital, she cared for her ailing mother, Elizabeth Love, until her death.  Etta was also an in-home care provider for many elderly residents of Blythe; providing transportation, cooking meals and always having a constant friendly face.  And this, all while caring for her grandchildren.

In the summer of 1960, Etta met her first love, Vernie Frazier, and to the union one child was born, Eric L. Frazier, Sr.  As time passed, Etta met the love of her life in Clyde Bowen and they were married in 1971.

Etta would go out of her way to help anyone - and would never ask for a dime - she did it out of love.

On October 21st, 2019 while at Desert Regional Medical Center with her son by her side, Etta Mabel Love Bowen was called home.
