Estella Doyal Washington was born on the Lord's Day, December 19, 1937, to the late David Doyal and Ada Hoard in Winnsboro, Louisiana.  She was reared by her mother and stepfather, the late Richard Hoard.  Estella was educated in the Louisiana school system until she disenrolled in the tenth grade.  She was a member of New Vision Baptist Church and later was named a Church Mother.

On January 19, 1955, Estella married the love of her life, Roosevelt Washington.  Together they shared 53 years of marriage until his earthly departure in 2008.  To this union were born eight children: Allen Ray, Roosevelt Jr., David Lee, James Edward, Martha, Rosie, Sharon, and Gary.  In 1962, Roosevelt and Estella decided to depart from Louisiana and head west, ultimately establishing roots in Blythe, California.  Estella worked as a housekeeper at the Blue Line Motel and as hostess for the infamous Fields Barbeque restaurant.  She later worked for the Palo Verde Unified School District as a custodian where she retired after 25 years.  It was her Saturday morning tradition to get up at the crack of dawn to go to all the local yard sales with her best friends, Helen Washington and Annie Fields.  Estella was rightfully known as a Domino Queen.

It has been often said that all angels must return to heaven and on February 16, 2025, God dispatched angels with a mandate to return his precious jewel to Him in Glory.  On that faithful day, Estella closed her tender eyes and moved out of her worn earthly tabernacle into her heavenly building not made by hands.  She reunited with her family members who preceded her in death; her husband, Roosevelt Washington Sr.; her father, David Doyal; her mother, Ada Hoard; stepfather, Richard Hoard; maternal grandparents, Ephrim and Rosie Blount; her sons David Lee Washington, Sr. and James Edward Washington; grandchildren Yanika Daniels and Terrance Hughes and long-time sister-friends, Helen Washington and Annie Fields.

Those that remain who honor and cherish her legacy and life are six blessed children: Allen Ray, Roosevelt Jr., Martha (Ricky), Rosie (Perry), Sharon (Wilbur), and Gary.  30 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 23rd from 5-7:00 pm at Frye Chapel.  Funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 24th at 10:00 am at the Spirit of Life church with committal services immediately following at Palo Verde Cemetery.
