Doretha Butler Jones, 76, of Indio, CA. passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Doretha was born April 26, 1942, to the late Theo Butler, Sr. and the late Lula Butler Henderson.  She attended schools in Blythe and graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1959 and Palo Verde College in 1961.  Doretha became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age and she played the piano, directed the Junior Choir, and taught Sunday School.  She began her career as a secretary to the President at Palo Verde College and later began a career in banking which took her to Pomona for thirty (30) years working as Assistant Vice-President/Customer Service Manager for Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank, and Provident Bank. She returned to Blythe when she retired from the banking industry and taught at Palo Verde College for nine (9) years in computer science and customer service workshops.

Doretha was married to Howard Jones who preceded her in death and from this union, they had two sons, Cassell and Anthony.

While in Blythe, Doretha experienced some physical health problems requiring her to relocate to Indio to be closer to her doctors.

Doretha is survived by her two sons, Cassell and Anthony (Donna) Jones; grandchildren, Nya, Lillian and Anthony, Jr. Siblings; Geraldine Butler and Charlene (Anthony) Harris of Indio, Irene Butler, Carol (Alex) Naranjo of Blythe, Mae Frances Crane of San Bernardino, Jimmy and Lewis Henderson of Blythe, CA.  Many family members (nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins) and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Jones and her parents Theo Butler, Sr. and Lula Mae Butler Henderson; brothers, Theo, Jr., Raymond, and Carl Butler.

Doretha, you will be missed.  You fought a good fight!  And now through the Grace of God, you are now at peace.

Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 21, 218, at Frye Chapel in Blythe at 10:00 AM.
