Obituary

Donna Sue Reynolds Scott passed away peacefully on October 21, 2019. Donna was born on September 20, 1940 in Port Arthur, TX to James Reynolds and Myrtle Whittington. Between her two parents, Donna was the oldest of ten children. She had three brothers and six sisters.

Donna attended several different schools growing up and graduated from Colton High School in 1958 as the Salutatorian. She was a member of the school band, playing the clarinet and a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls Masonic Youth Service Organization. Following high school, Donna attended University of California, Riverside where she met Kenneth Scott. They were married on January 27, 1961 and moved to Blythe in 1962. During the course of their marriage the couple were blessed with four sons and two daughters.

For several years, Donna was a homemaker and held a job at Cornets on Spring Street. After her last child was born in 1976, Donna began working for the Palo Verde Unified School District as a substitute teacher. During this time, Donna decided to finish her Bachelor's Degree and attended Northern Arizona University completing it in 1984. She became a Math teacher at Blythe Middle School in 1989. She received a Masters Degree in Education from the University of LaVerne in 1997. Donna worked at Blythe Middle School until her retirement in 2006 and absolutely loved the friendships she made there.

Donna was a CCD teacher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Cub Scout Den Mother, a member of the Blythe Junior Women's Club, and Soroptimist International of the Americas Organization. She loved selling See's candy, attending the Soroptimist conferences in Hawaii, Calgary and San Diego and truly enjoyed the Scholarship program.

Donna loved shopping trips with Elaine Arneson and traveling with Mary Gonzalez. She was an avid collector, enjoyed playing Bingo at the church, Bunco with her many friends from BMS and going on camping trips with the family. Donna loved reading and used to dream of becoming a librarian. Her guilty pleasure was reading romance novels, especially those written by Barabra Cartland. She enjoyed countless hours spent in Mormon libraries across the country tracing her family ancestry. In her later years she discovered her love for NASCAR admiring her favorite racer, Kyle Bush.

Donna loved her family, and other children she considered her own, the McCarthy, Carnes, Amerman, Arneson kids, the Lovekin Crew and all the other kids who ate at the Scott dinner table. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Aaron Scott (Lori), Anne-Marie Cabrales (Joe), Paul Scott, Rachel Angel, Benjamin Scott (Elvia), Jacob Scott, her 18 grand-children, 7 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Genie Scott and nephew, Gavin Scott (Emily).

A Rosary will be said at 10:00 A.M. and Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Thursday, November 7, 2019. The mass will be followed by burial at Palo Verde Cemetery. A reception will be held at the American Legion.
