David Eugene McLaughlin
GYSGT Mac

David passed away in his home on April 1, 2018. Dave was born Feb. 23, 1955  at 10:55pm in Burlington, VT to Edwin and Barbra McLaughlin.

He very proudly served in the Marines for 20 years and he retired as GNYSGT/E7.  He recently retired after 23 years from the State of California Dept. of Corrections where he was known as 'Big Mac' or 'Gunny' to his coworkers.  If Big Mac was on duty, you knew he had your back.  He was a brother, father, to anyone he knew.

He is an avid Patriots fan and if he thought he could convert you to love his team he would.  And even if he couldn't, he could make you feel like you should especially every time they mada the Super Bowl.

David had been a resident in the small town of Palo Verde for the past 20 years where he had proudly served as a volunteer fire fighter and as President of the water board where he had been moving mountains to make things happen.  He is going to be greatly missed in that small community.  His favorite thing about the small town of Palo Verde was being able to sit outside with a fire and a cold beer and before you knew it half the town had joined you.  He never knew a stranger - he would give you the shirt off his back if he felt you needed it more than he did.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tammy C McLaughlin; his daughters (14) Mackenzie McLaughlin, Tiffany (Danny) England of Bates, Arkansas, Alexandra (Brandon) Hoose of Otterville, MO, and son Scott (Jackie) Hoose of Otterville, MO and his very cherished Granddaughter Briella Faith Hernandez (9).

He is also survived by his brothers Ronald (Judy) McLaughlin of Milton, VT, Michael (Lisa) McLaughlin of Bullhead City, AZ, Bradley (Maureen) Weed of Florida, his only sister Amy (Jack) O'Halloran of Milton, VT and sister in laws Jennifer (John) Mayberry of Kingman, AZ and Kathy (Pat) Thevenin of Ehrenberg, AZ; many nieces and nephews that knew him as "Uncle Teddy Bear".  He is also survived by his longtime best friend and Marine Brother, John (Michelle) Carney of California.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Edwin McLaughlin, Barbra Pigeon, step father Winfield Weed, brothers Richard, Larry, and Genie McLaughlin and father-in-law David Crawford.

You taught me so much in our 15 years of marriage and you always had my back and protected us. I will do my best to slip on those size 13 boots and teach and protect our daughters and son as you would. Till we meet again.… SEMPER FI
