Clay R Corwin, left his earthly journey on 10/11/22 and began his eternal unification with his Lord and Savior. Clay was born to Jim and Helen Corwin in Phoenix, AZ. He was the youngest child, with brother Mark and sister Lana completing the Corwin Family.

The Corwin Family moved to Blythe in 1954. Clay attended all local schools and graduated from Palo Verde High School, earning a Bank of America Achievement Award for Industrial Arts.

Clay followed his Mother and Sister into the Rodeo venue participating in Junior Rodeos in the Blythe and surrounding areas. Riding bareback broncs and bulls, winning his share of buckles, saddle, and numerous scrapes, bruises, cuts, and humility.

Clay began his welding and fabrication career under the guidance of Blacksmith Bo Dodgen, in Somerton, AZ. Clay opened a mobile welding service in 1973 for the Palo Verde Valley, and in 1980 he purchased Dekens & Riley Welding and Machine Shop in Blythe. Now named Corwin Welding, and continued serving the Farming, Business, and local communities of Blythe, Parker, Cibola, and Palo Verde for the next forty plus years.

Clay was quite the innovator and designer with metal, obtaining a US Patent on his invention of a Press to Relax Compound Archery Bow's for repair. Clay also made a large Armillary Sun Dial, which has been donated to the Palo Verde Cemetery.

Clay enjoyed being a member of numerous groups promoting the Palo Verde Valley. He belonged to the Palo Verde J.C.'s in the later 1970's and was instrumental in producing the annual Pro Circuit Rodeo and Colorado River Fair, receiving awards for his hard work and loyalty to the community. He also belonged to the Pilot Association for the Annual Chamber of Commerce Boat Cruise from Blythe to Lake Martinez.

Being an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter, Clay spent a lot of time exploring the surrounding desert, mountains, and waterways searching for historical sites including Indian Cultural. Clay enjoyed hunting big game and varmints, fishing and competing in Bass Tournaments. Clay also belonged to the Arizona Desert Bighorn Society and enjoyed donating his time, money, and material to developing structures for water catchments for wildlife use.

Clay was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Blythe serving as an Elder for many years and leading Bible Study for over 8 years. Clay was a devout Christian and enjoyed talking with anyone about the Scriptures or his love of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father.

Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Helen Corwin, brother Mark Corwin, and wife Elizabeth "Annie" Corwin. He is survived by his sister Lana (Harry) Sloan, niece Linda Compton (Paul), and their children Jonalyn, Estella Alaina, and Zane, and countless friends and associates.

In lieu of flowers, Clay would be honored to have donations made in his honor to the Blythe Cancer Resource Center, P.O. Box 1266, Blythe, CA 92226.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Blythe.
