Clara Nell Toombs Reynolds was born February 18th, 1952 and entered into eternal rest on January 21st, 2022. Clara was born in Blythe, California to Clarence and Nellie Toombs. While being the only child, Clara spent a lot of time with her sister-cousin Sue. They were like sisters, spending time together for most of their lives. Clara attended local schools and graduated from Palo Verde High School in June of 1970. Clara started working at the age of 15 as a waitress at Aileen's Truck Stop. Clara remained in the food industry working at various locations around Blythe, which included Mac's Steak House, Courtesy Coffee Shop and Hobo Joe's. Clara was also a bartender at the Sultan's Den and the Courtesy Lounge.

In 1977 Clara met the love of her life, Dale Reynolds. They were married January 12th, 1980. Together they raised their three children, Melinda, Michael and Terry. In 1982 Clara made a career change, as a book keeper for Doxol Propane. In 1984 she became the Office Manager for Better Hearing Aid Service at their satellite office in Blythe. In 1986 Clara became the Office Manager for Blythe Credit Service where she remained until 1995. During Clara's time at Blythe Credit she worked with her daughter Melinda, as well as working with lifelong friends, Dollie Garnica, Yvette Lewis, Vertie Holley and Susie Tippit. Clara and Dale became 4-H leaders of Colorado River 4-H Club where she had the time of her life teaching and working with the kids for many years. Later she and her sister-cousin started a new club known as Desert 4-H Club.

Clara and Dale went to work for Hyder and Company Property Management managing the Squaw Valley Apartments and the Baldwin Senior Apartments. Clara excelled at this position and over the years became very well respected in the affordable housing community. In her years there, Clara received multiple certificates and awards from such agencies as USDA-RD, TCAC, HUD and HCD. Clara was also a Training Specialist, traveling to other site locations managed by Hyder and Company making sure that each property's files were in compliance for each individual program. Clara was recognized on multiple occasions for her excellent file accuracy and excellent management skills.

In 2006, Clara and Dale relocated to Arizona due to assisting family with the care of Dale's father.

It was amusing to see that when Clara started her new position as property manager for the new company, her supervisor became the student instead of the trainer. Clara was even teaching their compliance department how to do their jobs to be in compliance with the governing agencies overseeing the property.

In 2009, Clara was involved in a traffic accident while returning home from a training seminar in Monterey, California. Due to the injuries sustained in the accident, Clara had to retire, leaving the career she truly loved.

Clara used this time to spend spoiling the heck out of her grandchildren. Clara loved camping, being outdoors, riding three wheelers, and most of all spending time with her family. Clara loved to dance and given the opportunity, she could be seen at many local areas dancing her heart out. That would probably explain why her sons, Michael and Terry, are such good dancers. Clara loved going to Laughlin on their anniversaries or any other time just to get away. Clara had a passion for cooking; she enjoyed Cooking for her family for the holidays. She was well known for her famous holiday ham and for those of you that have tried it, you know what we are talking about.

Clara had a funny sense of humor, finding laughter in others when they mildly hurt themselves...

In December of 2013, Clara was diagnosed with stage two Mastitis Breast Cancer, which she battled receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments. In September of 2014 she completed her treatments and was cancer free.

In September of 2021 after being cancer free for seven years, she was once again diagnosed with Mastitis Breast Cancer, but this time it was stage four. Once again Clara was in the battle of her life to beat it, which took a huge toll on her and eventually took her from us.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence "Catfish" and Nellie "Lady Catfish" Toombs; and her daughter Melinda Sue Rogers (Hiser).

Clara is survived by her husband and partner of 45 years, Dale S. Reynolds; sons Michael (Jennifer) Toombs and Terry (Jessica) Reynolds; grandchildren Amanda (Edgar), Ryan (Breanna), Michael (Marissa), Trysten (Tara), Kylie (Gino), Zachary (Miliani), Taylar, Callista, Dakota and Brayden; great grandchildren Zane, Ashton, Emma, Daymien, Ryder, Nixon, Dominick, Dawson and Lakai.

Clara will always be known for her deep love of family and her loving, caring nature for others.

Memorial services for Clara will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel in Blythe. Interment will follow for a short graveside service at Palo Verde Cemetery.
