Born on July 9, 1959, in Pasadena, California, Dr. Cindy Perkinson Costilla, began her life journey under the loving care of her grandparents, Larry (best known as Daddy) and Bernice Moran. Raised in the embrace of family values with her grandparents, she grew up to be a woman of remarkable strength and compassion.

Moving from El Monte, CA to Blythe, CA during her childhood, Cindy found solace and joy spending her time on the river with friends, engaging in sports such as Shot Put, and honing her talents as a pianist. Graduating in 1976, she embarked on a professional journey that showcased her dedication and versatility within our community.

An advocate for early childhood education, Cindy pioneered one of the town's first reading programs for preschoolers, instilling a love for learning in young hearts. In 1998, Cindy opened a home daycare, fostering the growth and development of countless children within her community. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she believed every moment in life presented an opportunity to learn and grow. In 2004, Cindy extended her commitment to childcare by founding Lil Rascals CDC at the Zion Lutheran Church, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many families. Cindy then ventured into the classroom to educate the youth in her community with Palo Verde Unified School District. Cindy carried on her passion for educating as she progressed further by becoming an Adjunct Professor for Palo Verde College. In her pursuit of knowledge, Cindy attained her PhD in Forensic Psychology. A true testament to her unwavering determination and thirst for enlightenment and understanding for the world around her.

Cindy was a talented, lifelong musician. She shared her gift by playing the piano for various local churches, including First Baptist Church, Southern Baptist Church, and the Zion Lutheran Church. Cindy's expertise in playing piano is known to be one of the fondest memories of her
family and friends.

Known most for being a devoted mother, Cindy leaves behind her daughters, Mary, Emily (Joshua), and Elizabeth. She cherished being a grandmother, Nama as they called her, to Katelynn, Xander, Julius, Dalila (Nana), Natalie, Joshua Jr, Jayden, Lillyan, Jazmin, Kodie, and Trevor. Her Uncle Pat Moran (Jerry), Meagan (Family), Kevin (Family). Her Uncle Micheal Moran (Debbie), Keagan (Family).

Cindy's life was a symphony of love, resiliency, and service. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, inspiring them to break barriers and pursue their dreams. Though she departed too soon, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
