Cheryl June Crain passed September 1, 2018 peacefully at home. She was born September 27th, 1944 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Arlis and Vida Sullivan. She was the 4th of five girls. She moved to Blythe at a very young age. She attended and graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1962. After graduation, Cheryl worked at Maddox Electric where Kyle Johnson taught her how to drive. Cheryl met John Crain at her sister Janet's wedding. Cheryl and John always said it was love at first sight. They courted for less than a year and married on June 5th 1963. John and Cheryl had two boys, Robert and Kevin. In 1968 she began working in Johns Insurance business as Office Manager. She would work with John for 32 years until his passing in 2000. Cheryl and John were happily married for 46 years. She then helped her oldest son Robert to continue the business until his death in 2016. Cheryl's smiling face and witty banter always drew people to her while she worked. Many a customer would leave laughing even if they came in having a bad day. She had a knack for remembering details and was a whizz with numbers. She was a dear friend to many.

Cheryl was a devoted mother to her boys. No matter how many challenges they posed, she still managed to keep them in line and raise them to be strong men of integrity and dedication. She spent many hours driving around helping with paper deliveries in the rain, countless hours of "band mom" duties, FFA parent duties and too many fundraisers to count. Always up for an adventure, Cheryl even learned to ride a jet ski in order to ride with John and Kevin. She enjoyed spending time at the river.

She was campaign manager for John's tenure on the Palo Verde Community College board and for Robert's campaigns for City of Blythe Mayor.

She was involved with her community, volunteering many hours throughout the years to many causes she believed in. When the City Council decided the annual Christmas parade would have to be cut due to budget issues, Cheryl and John took it upon themselves to make sure it still happened every year knowing how important it was to this community. She loved working on the Christmas parade and managed 26 years of Christmas parades.  Many community members had been asked to donate time and talents to the Parade by Cheryl. She even convinced the family to give up buying Christmas gifts for one another and instead purchase character costumes, radios, flashlights, etc. every year for use in the parade. She was a member of the Blythe Order of the Eastern Star for many years until her health prevented her from attending. She was a Director of the Chamber of Commerce and recognized for her dedication in 2004.

Cheryl is survived by her Son Kevin (Brenna) Crain, Grandson John W. Crain and dear sister Judy (Rick) Hopper.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Frye Chapel.
