It is with great sadness we announce the passing of
Charles Alfred Leonard
Born July 23rd, 1937 in Keokuk County, Iowa.
And went to fish on heaven's shores on March 13th, 2024 in Blythe California.

He grew up in Iowa where he was the oldest of 5 brothers. Throughout his high
school years, he played football, basketball, ran track. He also worked at his
family's general store. He would often tell stories about selling antennas with his
father and collecting eggs with his younger brothers to sell at the store.

He joined the Marines in 1956 where he served on active duty until 1959 when he
was awarded a Good Conduct Medal while stationed at 29 Palms. He also
continued to serve in the reserves for another 3 years.

While he was stationed at 29 Palms he went on a blind date with his cousin's
best friend Shirley Kaneversky. They quickly fell in love and were married in
Biggsville Illinois in 1960. They later moved from Chicago to L.A.
While living in L.A. he worked for Matson on the Harbor City Waterfront while
they continued growing their family before finally moving to Blythe in 1978. They
opened and ran Leonards Broadway Garden Center in Blythe for many years
before they retired.

Any chance he got he would go fishing and it didn't matter where, rivers, canals,
lakes, or the ocean he would almost always come home with something. He also
enjoyed reading and watching old westerns while relaxing on the couch.

He is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Wayne) and Cindy, Brothers, Cliff, Bill
(Jeannie), and Lee, grandchildren Kali (Tommy), Ryan (Katie), Timmy (Brytney),
and Daniel (Maddy), great-grandchildren Trey, Easton, and Bentley, extended
family and many many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Shirley, daughter Debbie,
parents Charles and Vi, and brother Kendal.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 6th, at 1:00 pm at The River Church.
