Chuck Bush passed away on March 13, 2020. Due to COVID, his funeral had to be postponed. A memorial service will be held March 15, 2021 at 4:00 pm. For those who would like to attend in person, it will be at the Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Blythe, CA. It will also be live on this Facebook page for those who would like to attend virtually.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Blythe Cancer Center PO Box 1266 Blythe, CA 92226.

Charles David Bush was born on August 6, 1967, and passed away on March 13, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Sandra, four children Stephanie (Josh) Bishop, Keri (Jared) Rusk, Kyla (Matt) Valinotti, and Zachary Bush, his three grandchildren Weston and Sadie Bishop and Owen Rusk, his mother Jackie Devine and father Larry (Mary) Bush. He is also survived by two sisters, three nephews, and four nieces.

Chuck served in the United States Navy for ten years before becoming a teacher at Columbine Elementary School District in Delano, CA. As he worked his way from teacher to superintendent, he worked at schools all over California. His passion, and doctorate thesis, was helping underprivileged and underperforming schools succeed. He was recognized by the California Department of Education for his hard work with Frank Wright Middle School in 2007 when they received the California Distinguished School Award. That same year, Frank Wright was also recognized for being in the top 2% of all middle schools in California for closing the achievement gap, and named a school to watch by the California League of Middle Schools. Chuck was recognized by the California Department of Education when Cinnabar Charter School received the California Distinguished School award in 2014. Most recently, Chuck was Superintendent of Palo Verde Unified School District in Blythe, CA. Chuck's love for his communities, schools, and students left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Chuck was involved in many organizations over the years, but he was most proud of being a Mason. He spoke often of the love and support he received from his Masonic Brothers. He was very proud to be an honorary FFA member. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Due to COVID-19 and restrictions on gatherings, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the Bush family asks that donations be made to the Blythe Cancer Resource Center in Chuck's memory. Contact the Resource Center at (760) 921-BCRC for more information.
