Cathy
Trathen
Sep 8, 1958 — Feb 23, 2023
Laveen
Cathy Renee Trathen, passed away peacefully in her home on February 23rd.
She was born September 8th 1958 in Blythe, California to William and Guindolyn Rawlins. She was the 3rd of six children. She spent the early part of her youth in Midland, California before moving into Blythe in elementary school. She spent the remainder of her youth on Alice Lane which she wore proudly the remainder of life. She attended Appleby, Blythe Junior High, and graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1976.
In 1978, she had her son Jason Rawlins. A year later while working at the 76 Truck Stop in Mesa Verde, she met her husband of 43 years, David Trathen. They resided in Mesa Verde for the next 18 years, followed by her beloved home on N. 8th Street for the next 20 years, before retiring to Laveen, AZ to be closer to their grandchildren. They were everything to her.
If you knew Cathy, you knew she loved to talk and she loved her hugs. She never met a stranger. She was constantly listening to country music, especially George Strait and Alan Jackson. She loved baking brownies and apple pies and giving them to people. She enjoyed making people smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Quin Rawlins, along with sisters Sharon Barto and Nancy Rawlins and her brother Charles Rawlins, and her in-laws Albert and Joan Trathen.
She is survived by her husband David Trathen, son Jason Rawlins Sr, grandchildren Guadalupe, Jason Jr., David, and Haily, brothers Donald and Jim Rawlins, numerous nieces and nephews, and all of her extended grandchildren, having been known as Grandma Cathy by many.
She is reunited with her beloved parents who she adored. The world won't be the same without, but she will continue to bring smiles to people's faces when they think of the crazy things she would do to make them laugh.
A memorial service for Cathy has been scheduled at Frye Chapel for Friday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m.
All are invited to attend.
