Catalina F. McLain, 65, passed away at La Paz Regional Hospital in Parker, Arizona on November 16, 2018.

Catalina was born December 15, 1952 in Blythe, California to Gabriel and Edith Guilin. She was the oldest of their four children. She had lived in Blythe her entire life. She married her best friend and love of her life, Jeff McLain, on October 22, 1977 and together they had three children.

Catalina worked for many years at Pioneer's Memorial Hospital in Brawley, CA before returning back to school and earning her BSN in Nursing. Catalina worked for 23 years as a Registered Nurse at the jail for the Riverside County Sheriff's office. Once she retired, she went back to work at Palo Verde Hospital as the Chief Nursing Officer to help and support the nursing staff.

Catalina enjoyed cooking her Mexican food, amongst other meals, and loved going out to the local desert area. She was loved by all people. She enjoyed the local 4-H and FFA during fair time. She was graciously known as Cat at "Cat's Kitchen", where she would set up and cook for all members of 4-H and FFA – she used to say that no child would go hungry. She was one of kind – she always had a smile on her face and time to listen to what you had to say.

Catalina is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jeff; her son Jeff, daughter Sarah and son John (Tess); her brothers Gabe (Channin) and Bernie (Sharon).
She always thought of her grandnieces and grandnephews as her own (grandchildren): Nieces and nephews, Teresa Cooper McCutcheon (Marlie, Major, Macie and Meyer), Gabe Cooper (Lincoln and Karson), Alisha Guilin Zane (Owen and Evan), Kailee Guilin (Tessa and Donovan), Stacey Thompson Goodman (Sarah), and Jack Barron (Emma and Kate).

She was preceded in death by her parents Gabriel 'Blackie' Guilin and Edith Guilin, her sister Ida Cooper and niece Kailee Guilin.

Catalina was a loving wife, mother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her smile. Cat loved her church and her ward; she taught Sunday School and would never turn anyone down who asked for her help.

Memorial services for Cat will be held at the LDS Church on Broadway on Monday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. There will be no graveside services and private disposition is pending.
