Obituary

Obituary Carlos Ruben Flores-Fabian Sr., aged 76, passed away on July 12, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by the love of his life, Anita Flores, their eight children and their spouses: Modesto; Carlos and Nancy; Celestina; Guillermo and Crystal; Jacinta and Raul; Ana and Nancie; Olivia and Ray; and Cesar. He also leaves behind thirty-six grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carlos was born on November 21, 1947, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to Celestina and Matilde Flores-Fabian. At the tender age of eight, he began working as a mechanic to help support his family. By the age of ten, he discovered a passion for the auto-body industry. Carlos was always determined to improve his life and worked tirelessly to achieve his goals. In 1969, he migrated to the United States, starting his journey toward the American dream in New York. After a year of hard work in New York, he seized an opportunity in Blythe, California, where he spent most of his life.

Carlos started his auto-body work in Blythe at Rolo's Shop on Bernard. He continued his work throughout the town at Morgan's, Joe Simbas, and River Bottom. His work is still seen throughout the town as he collaborated with his community over the years to provide the best auto-body work he could.

Carlos met his beloved wife, Anita, on August 17, 1970, at the Blythe Marina. They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 19, 1975, and remarried on April 29, 2000, through the Catholic Church. Carlos was a dedicated and hardworking man, devoting his life to his church, family, and his passion for sports, including soccer, baseball, and football. He was an avid supporter of teams such as Club América, the Guatemala national team, the Dodgers, the 49ers, the Raiders, and the Packers. He was well-known for his strong dislike of the Cowboys, a sentiment he never hesitated to express—"Sorry, Raul."

Those who knew Carlos will remember his caring, energetic, and humorous personality, as well as his love for dancing and music. He was always willing to give you the shirt off his back and helped anyone without hesitation. Though he is no longer with us, the impact he made on those he touched ensures that his spirit will live on forever.

Services for Carlos will be held on Monday, July 29th from 5-8:00pm at Frye Chapel with Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. Mass will be Tuesday, July 30th at 10:00am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with burial following at Palo Verde Cemetery.
