Obituary

Annette Hammond, 78, most recently of Blythe, California, passed on April 26th, 2025. A beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Annette will be remembered for her dedication to her career and her generosity to her loved ones.

Annette was born to Tom Eugene and Ila Mae Wallace on August 31, 1946 in Monticello, Arkansas and was one of four siblings, Dean, Glenda, and Kent.

Annette enjoyed music, tap dancing, softball, painting, sewing, horseback riding, the river, the beach, traveling to see family and friends, and trail riding on her motorcycle - a hobby she continued into her retirement with her prized off-roading buggy. She also loved football, always rooting for her favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.

Annette was an avid collector of dolls and designer of miniatures. She became a member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts in 1990, and a Lifetime member in 2020. She also served as the regional editor for the group's newsletter in 2018. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

A patriotic civil servant, Annette devoted 44 years of her career to the Department of the Navy, where she retired from the US Naval Observatory as a Senior Management Analyst. She received the prestigious "Meritorious Civilian Service" award in 2014. Many of her colleagues recall fond memories of her keeping them all in line and everything organized within her department.

Annette is survived by her children, Lynnette Williams-Ratica and Kristie (Paul) Hubbard and by her grandchildren, Daniel (Emily) Ratica, Vanessa Ratica, Victoria Ratica-McAfee, Valacee Ratica-Perry, Sabrina (Tyler) Williams, Amanda (McKayla) Hubbard-Cosner, and Lydia Neistadt. She also leaves behind many cherished great-grandchildren, Alexander, Samuel, Daphne, Holly, Derrell, Keiahna, Keian, Keithan, Keiradan, and Karion. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Dean Williams.

As per her wishes, Annette's ashes will be scattered in a private event. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Annette's name be made to the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts ( https://miniatures.journeycare.app/product/NAME-Donation , please put "In Memory of Annette Hammond" in the memo or "other" box) and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ( stjude.org/donate ).
