Alma Angelina Duarte, 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 27, 2017 in her home in Blythe, California after a short battle with liver cancer.

She was born in Brawley, California on October 24, 1941. Her mother, Maria Duarte, and her father Alejandro "Chino" Robles Duarte predeceased her. Alma's family moved to the Palo Verde Valley in 1948. She attended valley schools and in 1960 graduated from Palo Verde High School. She attended night school at Palo Verde Jr. College completing her AA degree in 1963 majoring in accounting. Her career included self-employment of Books and Company before managing the offices of Grijalva Ag and Helena Chemical. Upon retirement in October 2016 she was now able to enjoy her home and new chapter in life.

The eldest of seven siblings, she is survived by five sisters and 1 brother. Celia Hernandez of Rancho Cucamonga (Alejandro), Irma DeForest of Blythe, Maria Gloria Holler of Blythe, Grace Taylor of Blythe (Dennis), Racheal Duarte of Blythe and Alex Duarte of Vista (Cindy). Blessed with 13 nieces and nephews, she was everybody's favorite Auntie Alma.

Viewing and services were held at Frye Chapel on August 6th, 2017 and a funeral mass was held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on August 7th, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Father Henry officiated. Donations to the Cancer Society in Alma's name are welcome. Graveside services took place at Blythe Cemetery. Alma's family, relatives and friends gathered at a reception held at VFW Post 2987. All may visit (Frye Mortuary.com) to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family. We wish to extend our thanks and appreciation for the many expressions of condolences, flowers and contributions of time and energy to the family. A special thanks to the Helena Chemical Company staff who prepared the delicious main course for the reception and provided the wonderful aperitif.
